I came across this technique about a year ago – perhaps one of the wierdest ones but defiantly a effective technique for painting metal damage and chipping.
First off – take your model and either give it a heavy drybrush of silver or give it a undercoat of silver. Then take a toothbrush (one that you don’t want to use anymore… or your sisters :P) and dab it into marmite so the marmite collects on the very top of the bristles. Than takes the toothbrush and dab it on the areas where you want the chipping to occur.
Once completed take a spray can of the body colour of your fig and spray over the whole model and over the marmite. Once dry take your fig and and gently wash the marmite off with warm water. What will happen is the marmite will act as a form of masking and leave irregular patches of the undercoat showing through – simples!

I also gave this fig a coat of quickshade to further the weathering effect. Well i hope you find that helpful – if you do give it a go – please send me a pic of your results! (contact details on “about us” page)
awesome i will use this technique
