1/48 Mad-Cat anyone? Tuesday, Aug 11 2009

Since getting into 5150, i wanted to fit the rules to a sci-fi theme. The themes i have been playing over in my head are.

> Firefly/ Serenity
> Battletech (Jihad or Clan Invasion Era)
> Halo

But after i found this site

It sealed the deal, battletech it is. Sadly i got no printer card at the moment so i did a test piece for scale purposes and as you can see – it is as close to dammit as it ever going to get.

I am going to make a Clan Jade Falcon army, using the 25mm elemental figs from Ral Partha and GW scout figs for the infantry (i know infantry use in the clans is rare – but let a little artistic license eh?).

As for stats – i am not sure – its a mix between having the clans count as ISS or Symons – if there is any 5150 players that reads this – let me know what you think is the best choice.

While passing a toy shop i saw these staring at me from the window – now they looked kinda to scale with 28mm figs – so i bought them and low and behold…

Pretty good eh? Gonna use them for a 5150 campaign – maybe the Decepeticons make a alliance with the Glenku :)

Glenku Allies Friday, Jul 24 2009

Been reading the 5150 background and have grown very fond of a two particular races; The Spugs and The Quar. I planning on buying the Quar (a armys worth) next month and decided to convert my own Spugs as a allied merc force to assist my Glenku. I made them using GW Vespid bodies with Tau fire warrior heads

Creating Aliens: Part Two Thursday, Jul 23 2009

Been converting and painting more Glenku and got the backstory done…

The Glenku
“Vicious bastards! Wish they were fighting for us!” PDF Lance Corporal Peterson while defending from a Glenku raid.

Current History
According to the ALIENS STUDIES INSTITUTE (AS I) on GAEA PRIME the Glenku are defiantly XENOFORMS. The Glenku have only recently risen to prominence, only recently acquiring the technology to move from their homeworld of Glenkias. But even with their short time in the universal community – they have made a big impact.
The Glenku are barely 6 GP ft high. Their appearance can be loosely described as “leathery humanoid bird thing!” their build is lithe, long, thin but strong limbed and with an attitude described by the same person as before as “a kid whose been told Christmas is cancelled”. Although their technology is self developed, its advancement has been by reverse engineering captured tech, and thus alot of the technology it’s instinctively foreign to your average Glenku warrior. A good example of this is their new standard issue armour. Before this the Glenku were accustomed to wearing lacquered leather and wood armour, many a Glenku find the new armour “uncomfortable” at the best of times.
Glenku society is about strength and one’s ability to use that strength to put yourself over one’s peers. It’s for this fact that warriors in Glenku society are treated like nobles of GP. The reason for their recent development is the sudden and unexpected unity. For hundreds of years the Glenku have warred with each other in a clan like structure – that was until Emperor Takeida conquered the other lords and created a unified Glenkias.
Now Takeida has his eye on the creating a galactic empire, invading border worlds, forcing them under the Glenku banner.

Oh and is a pic of a painted Glenku Combat Team

Creating Aliens: Part One Wednesday, Jul 22 2009

Just finished reading the basic rules of 5150 and want to jump in head first into a game. Was on the Two Hours Wargame yahoo group and i noticed how many people had created their own alien races for the game. The writer in me got fired up – so now i going to create my own race :) .

I am on the verge of finalizing the background fluff for them – so for now a name and a pic
